Managing the big transitions

How do we prepare for complex social and environmental change?

Published 8 April 2016

Episode 365

Transition management thinker and leader Professor Jan Rotmans argues that there must be a radical shakeup of existing institutions and governing structures if we are to deal with the shared, complex challenges emerging in social, economic, energy and environmental realms.

“There is no blueprint, there is no fixed solution, but you need to invest a lot in what I call ‘radical innovation’,” says Professor Rotmans.

Professor Rotmans visited the University of Melbourne as guest of the Melbourne Sustainable Society Institute and the EU Centre on Shared Complex Challenges.
