Tackling the pandemic and its effects on society requires our greatest minds, and highlights the role of universities in driving life-saving research, while supporting and advising policy makers both locally and globally..

And crucially, convening great minds to discuss the issues that matter.

This new University of Melbourne series, Conversations on COVID-19: A Global View, goes beyond Australia’s borders to discuss with global leaders, the issues playing out on the world stage.

Our first episode features Dr Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases in the USA. He has advised six US Presidents – from President Reagan to President Trump – on issues of global health and is known as “America’s Doctor”

He joins Professor Sharon Lewin – the inaugural Director of the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity, a joint venture between the University of Melbourne and the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Each episode will feature international experts, leaders in their fields, offering us their insights on key issues and explore how we – as a global society – can live with coronavirus.
